Expectations for iPad Users
TSD iPads are loaned to students and should be used as learning tools. Specifically students will use the devices to participate in classes at MVHS, access materials online, complete and turn in assignments. Additionally, students may use them as directed by teachers within classrooms, including email, Schoology and using specific apps.
Students agree to be responsible users by understanding the expectations, following them and asking for help when they need it. Students also agree to the 5 main tenets of the RUP, explained during iPad distribution and indicated their agreement when they signed off on the Pledge.
Students whose parents opted to allow iPads to go home with them must follow the school expectations at school and the parental expectations at home. Parents, as the ultimately responsible parties have every right to monitor their student(s) in the use of the iPad, including knowing the passcode, checking for inappropriate content and setting rules they deem necessary.
The 5 main tenets were:
RUP Pledge
1. I will not remove, edit or alter the Thompson School District iPad management profiles installed on the school device.
2. I will not access or display materials on the iPad: websites, apps, games, videos, images, music, etc. that are inappropriate, including profanity, weapons/violence/blood, sexual content, alcohol/drug use, anything threatening, pornographic, obscene or sexually explicit.
3. I will not acquire and/or share images, audio or video of others without their permission nor will I post them anywhere without permission.
4. I will not share my Apple ID or any other account information with others, nor use my Apple ID or other account information on someone else’s device.
5. I will keep the TSD iPad protected in an approved case and charged and ready to use each school day.

MVHS iPad Disciplinary Pyramid
Behaviors in this pyramid are divided into three categories:
  1. Safety & Protection
  2. Appropriate Use
  3. Responsibility
Teachers will teach each of the categories in terms of the iPad POWER Statement and classroom expectations. A specific behavior may not be addressed by a teacher, until it becomes a distraction but any behavior that does not promote student responsibility for learning and being a quality digital citizen may earn consequences.
Each category has tiers of significance, beginning with classroom level to administrative to potential for legal action required.
